Competitive Events Guidelines
Oklahoma BPA will be utilizing a Supplement Guide to the National Workplace Skills Assessment Program Guidelines booklet again.
The purpose of the Guidelines Supplement is to serve as an addendum to the National Guidelines and to provide as much information as possible to help prepare students for a successful experience at the State Leadership Conference (SLC).
The National Workplace Skills Assessment Program Guidelines, as well as the supplement, regulate all state Workplace Skills Assessment Program Events. Authors, administrators, proctors, and evaluators will strictly follow these guidelines. At the state level, if there are conflicts between the two guidelines the Oklahoma Guidelines Supplement will supersede the National Guidelines except in the case of national contest eligibility.

General Conference Information
The 2013 State Leadership Conference will be held at OSU-IT Okmulgee, Green Country Technology Center, and the ORU Mabee Center. Registration will open January 2 and close February 1, 2013. The deadline for receipt of your pre-judged materials and all SLC related documents is February 1, 2013. Now is the time to plan for your chapter’s participation in the SLC activities.
Theme
The theme for the State Leadership Conference is “Uncover Your Magic.”
Dates and Locations
Tuesday, March 5
Competitive events will be held on March 5 at OSU-IT and Green Country Technology Center in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The business meeting, campaign booths, and other activities are planned for this day as well.
Various workshops will be held throughout the day for students to attend. OSU-IT campus tours will also be conducted.
The business meeting will take place the afternoon of March 5 in the Covell Hall Auditorium. BPA members will have the opportunity to hear speeches from all the Executive Council candidates, and voting delegates will vote to slate the 2013-14 State Executive Council. Remember that it is your privilege and duty to vote for officer candidates.
Voting on any proposed bylaw changes is also tentatively planned during this time. BPA State Bylaws are posted on the OKBPA.org and the Oklahoma BPA iCAT room and can be located by accessed under the 2013 SLC link. Any proposed corrections or additions should be submitted in writing to Dustin Devers, BPA State Advisor, by January 4, 2013 to be in accordance with the 60-day policy noted in the by-laws.
The post-secondary awards session will be held on March 5 at the ORU Mabee Center and is tentatively scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. All students, advisors, and guests are welcome to attend.
The social activities are being planned by a Steering Committee and will be announced at a later date.
Wednesday, March 6
The secondary/mid-level awards session will be held at the ORU Mabee Center at 9:00 a.m. and will begin with a welcome and a dynamic presentation by the keynote speaker. Announcement and installation of the new Executive Council and a farewell to the current council will also take place. Finally, the special recognition and competitive event awards for secondary and mid-level students will be announced. All students, advisors, and guests are welcome to attend.

Oklahoma BPA is looking for some talented artists to design this year’s State Leadership Conference T-Shirt. Do you have students who might be interested? Then share with them this fabulous opportunity. All proceeds from the t-shirts sold will go toward the BPA Scholarship fund.

Here are the specifics:
- The contest is open to any active, paid member of BPA.
- Each chapter may submit 2 entries.
- The design must be original.
- If the artwork contains copyrighted materials it will not be considered. It is the policy of Business Professionals of America to comply with state and federal copyright laws, which are available on the Web at www.copyright.gov/title17/circ92.pdf.
- Designs must be submitted in JPEG format
- Designs should reflect BPA and/or the 2013 National Theme “Uncover Your Magic”
- Keep the design simple and clear
- A maximum of 4 colors may be used for the design (white and black count as colors)

Hotel Information
There are three contracted hotels for the 2013 State Leadership Conference. The following information can be used when making hotel reservations and accommodations while attending the State Leadership Conference. For those that do not know, or are not familiar with the Tulsa Southern Hills hotels, the Hilton Southern Hills was sold and acquired by InterContinental Hotel Group, and is now a Crowne Plaza hotel.
